You know what's been burning in me lately...

Well, maybe you've got an idea from the title of this blog. It's a burning desire for reaching the lost, but not in the sense of wanting them to come to church, rather of the church going out to find them and meeting them where they are. Isn't that, after all, what Jesus did and still does? He literally went to the houses of sinners and tax collectors to share a meal with them all. Jesus went to them! I think we've gotten so comfortable in our church chairs and have forgotten the ministry of Jesus. There are plenty of hurt sheep out there wandering alone, with church wounds. The last thing they want to do is step into the church. There's something about a person showing agape love to someone who is lost. That speaks volumes. Jesus came down and met with us.

We all want to feel seen, heard, and valued. When we make an effort to go to someone who is struggling or hurting and share a meal with them, it shows that we actually care. It shows that to us, they are not just a number in our church building, but that we genuinely care and have love for them. Don't get me wrong, having a building to gather is great and it honors the Lord, but let's go back to the basic ministry of Jesus. He taught us the way. Ask the Lord to highlight someone He wants you to reach and connect with. Sacrifice some of your time to just listen to them. Make them feel seen because, in reality, they are seen by the Father. Let me leave you with this pearl the Lord gave me:

People don't really care about what you have to say about Jesus if you don't show them that you care.

That being said, form relationships. Connect with people and show them Jesus. Then you will see how they start to build trust in you, and then they will be drawn to Jesus. Hallelujah! Another sheep will be found! Our Lord will get the glory.

Matthew 18:12 TPT

Think of it this way: If a man owns a hundred sheep and one lamb wanders away and is lost, won’t he leave the ninety-nine grazing the hillside and thoroughly search for the one lost lamb?
